"People who fly have a different view of the world than those who spend their lives on the ground. A very wise man once wrote a poem while he was flying, and he called this poem "The God's Eye View," and he said that this view was entirely different than the view he always had on the ground, which he called "The Bug's Eye View."

Out there, somewhere, in the air we fly through, exists an old Persian legend much like this poem about a bug who spent his entire life in the world's most beautifully designed Persian rug. All the bug ever saw in his lifetime were his problems. They stood up all around him. He couldn't see over the top of them, and he had to fight his way through these tufts of wool in the rug to find the crumbs that people had spilled on the rug. And the tragedy of the story of the bug in the rug was this: that he lived and he died in the world's most beautifully designed rug, but he never once knew that he spent his life inside something which had a pattern. Even if he, this bug, had even once gotten above the rug so that he could have seen all of it, he would have discovered something - that the very things he called his problems were a part of the pattern."

two items of vague interest:

1) got meself a lumix LX2 which i love dearly
2) went to paris at the weekend, so sorry if i start flooding with deviations, but some are my very first proper portraits - hey, i was with a divine creature with the rough dimensions of a model, so i wasn't going to waste an opportunity, was i? :D

anyway, i think i'll write about paris soon, but for now i'm a bit too close to it all, so i'll just say HI to you all and i'll speak soon...

:: Chinese New Year 2008 ::

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 17, 2008, 10:19 AM
Evening, all!

Well, i finally got round to uploading my chinese new year photos from last week. I should have been less lazy really and uploaded them as soon as i got back so it would be a bit more topical, but honestly it's taken me all week to come round to some of them.

I've been pretty disappointed in my creative endeavours recently, and my photo-head has taken quite a battering - i looked at these (that at the time of taking, thought "they're great!") last sunday night, and looked at boring subject after boring subject.

I'm not sure if i'm not picking out the most interesting photograph, or if it's my style that's making things in the photos boring, or if it's just in my head.

But enough of this. These are the ones i liked, and some are even in colour! As i mentioned to ~KittenKiss recently, the UK (and the north of, in winter) is a hard place to get a bright colour out of at the best of times, but the sun was shining for us so all seemed light and bright and other things ending in ight.

Actually, i'm always pleased with the atmosphere at Chinese New Year in Newcastle. There's always a feeling of ease, and no signs of any 'bother' - something i'm quite proud of. Now if only we could extend this to Gays, Asians & Blacks, we could really call ourselves diverse.
